While a student at RISD, Jon learned the craft of making tile. Since then he has developed unique techniques in tile making and has produced an extensive array of designs.

Jon builds molds for the production of his tiles and works in a variety of aesthetic and technical styles including Arts and Crafts, sculpted relief, cloisonné, and simple field tiles.

All the tiles are finished in a wide palate of earthenware and stoneware glazes. All tiles can be ordered with removable hangers applied to the back for wall display.

Additionally these tiles are available set in quarter sawn oak frames. please allow up to four weeks for special orders (framed tiles, alternate glazing, and large quantities).

Odd Inq tile is gleefully available for commission in custom designs, the pricing of such work is negotiated per project. Wholesale inquiries are also welcome.

Alphabet Series Tiles

The Odd Inq alphabet tile series is a one of a kind production of hand pressed and decorated stoneware tile.

26 characters follow a route of dark humor and irrevrent logic. The tiles can be installed, or hung on the wall individually as contemplative object d’art.

In designing the series, Jon says, “I waited until the lightbulb lit above my head before selecting each icon, it had to make a kind of sense.” Once the subject was selected Jon molded a prototype and made a plaster mold of the piece for production.

There is only one mold per letter, so that as they wear out, that will be the end of the run for that design.

Please note: If you DO NOT want a hanger on the back of your tile, we will need to know that when place your order.
