Here are some examples of the sculptural work Jon has created in recent years. All of the ceramic pieces are built up or carved from architectural terra cotta. Each piece has a combination of ceramic and non-ceramic finishes. The shadow box pieces incorporate electric illumination for a depth of effect. Jon states, “As with most artists, I have been “making things” since childhood and I draw upon my early interests (model making, model railroading, exploring derelict buildings, and digging to China) to this day. I intend for my work to be curious, engaging, and interesting to all ages. In many of the pieces I have incorporated my sardonic sense of humor and want the viewer to enjoy the sculptures as much as I enjoy building them. |
